can I touch my computer components without an anti-static wrist band
l am building my own computer and l have not touched my motherboard or any
of my PC components yet. but l am not sure if l can touch everything
without an antistatic wrist band. Please help.
Why sure.just use one hand though and keep the other one on
your wallet so you can have easy access to your credit card when you
replace what you have shorted out.
9 times out of 10, you won't have static problems.it is that 1 time in 10
that will cost you.
I built my whole computer without an anti-static wristband.
Just periodically touch the metal case. It is definitely stressful when
building, especially for the first time, but don't be scared. I know when
I built mine I really had a hard time putting in the ram, it didn't seem
to want to go in, and it felt like I was pushing soo hard, but finally
with much aggravation I got them in, the same with the video card too.
Hope your computer will kick $$ !!
Yes you can. I find the best way is to work from the floor. If
you're knelt down, keep a foot against a radiator pipe so you are earthed.
This way you have both hands free.
Yes just make sure you ground yourself to something, normally
the inside of the case works.
Yes, just keep the other hand on the metal bit of the case; so
to ground any static.
